Janice Bailey Haugabook, 93, of Montezuma, GA, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11 am at The Montezuma Methodist Church. Dr. Jonathan Beckum will officiate. Interment will follow in Felton Cemetery.

Janice was born on April 12, 1932 in Douglas, GA to Dalton and Audrey Bailey. She was raised in Lenox, Georgia and graduated from Cook High School. After High School, she attended South Georgia College and Georgia State College For Women where she met Dick Haugabook. They married on August 9, 1953 and made their home in Montezuma, GA.

Janice was a faithful member of The Montezuma Methodist Church and attended The Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was also a member of McKenzie Memorial Golf Club, The Twenty-One Club and the past president of The Ladies Golf Association.

She greatly enjoyed many hobbies including golf, tennis and bridge where she recently achieved the status of Sapphire Life Master. Janice will be remembered by her family and friends as joyful, animated, and very witty. Her infectious personality will be remembered and missed by all those that knew her. She had the unique quality of never meeting a stranger, no matter where she was! Through her generosity and hospitality, she truly made everyone feel special.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cheney (Dick) Haugabook Sr. and a son, Richard Cheney (Ricky) Haugabook, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail Haugabook Coogle (Tommy) of Oglethorpe, GA and Holli Haugabook Farr (Paul) of Americus, GA, her daughter-in-law, Connie Haugabook of Montezuma, GA, her grandchildren, Brandi Haugabook Roland (Chad) of Americus, GA, Richard Cheney Haugabook III (Hadley) of Montgomery, AL, John Leonard Haugabook of Montezuma, GA, Thomas Leslie Coogle II (Jill) of Tifton, GA, Christy Baily Coogle Hubbard (Ben) of Columbus, GA, Zachary Paul Farr (Emma Alley) of Pasadena, CA, Daniel Haugabook Coogle (Mandi) and Bailey Farr Morton (Brendan) all of Marietta, GA and Leslie Anne Farr of Athens, GA and her great-grandchildren, Reese Cheney Roland of Augusta, GA, Bryant Davis Roland of Americus, GA, Virginia Newell Haugabook of Montgomery, AL, Thomas Leslie Coogle III of Oxford, MS, Kate Coogle and Claire Coogle both of Tifton, GA, Carson Hubbard and Sam Baily Hubbard both of Columbus, GA and Mary Hollis Coogle, Virginia Coogle and Audrey Rose Morton all of Marietta, GA.

In the later years of her life, she was very blessed with wonderful ‘caregivers’ who the family often refers to as her angels. Melenda Henry, Abbie Hosley, Gwen Lake, Gloria James, Micalya Williams, and Cora Cephus.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Fellowship Hall at Montezuma Methodist Church.
