Shannon Wayne Layfield, born September 20, 1975, in Reynolds, Georgia, passed away on July 9, 2026, in Montezuma, Georgia. Shannon’s life was one marked by quiet strength and dedication to family.
The early lessons and support received from his parents, Wayne and Sharon Layfield, remained a guiding force throughout his life. Shannon's parents and his beloved sister Amanda preceded him in death.
Shannon devoted many years of service at Beasley’s chip mill in Oglethorpe, Georgia. His commitment to his work and to those around him was always evident, and he took pride in every task.
He is survived by his sister, Tammi L. Law (Kevin). He also leaves behind a loving extended family: nieces Chloee Law, Emilee Law, and Cassie Barfield; nephew, Wayne Layfield; and nephew, JB Law. Great-nephews, Little JB Law and Rhett Mygrant.
A visitation will be held on August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 1180 Little Bethel Road, Ideal, Georgia. Immediately following, a memorial service will be held at the same location at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, reflect, and honor the memory of Shannon Wayne Layfield. The family will not be receiving visitors prior to the day of the services.
