Mrs. Jeannette Beard passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the Miona Rehabilitation Center in Ideal, Georgia. Born on September 21, 1931, in Montezuma, Jeannette led a long and meaningful life marked by dedication to family, work, and the simple joys she cherished.
Jeannette was the beloved daughter of L.J. Spradley and Ethel Davis Spradley, both of whom preceded her in death. Throughout her life, she maintained deep family connections and leaves behind a strong legacy through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Beard and Langdon (Heather Brown) Beard, and her daughter, Lynn Woodard. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew (Cassandra) Woodard, Brittany Farmer, Caitlin Beard, and Conley Beard. Her great-grandchildren, Mickell Greene, Nickolas Woodard, Kingston Woodard, Morgan Woodard, and Barrett Williams, were a source of pride and joy for her. Jeannette is also preceded in death by her grandchild, Wayne Woodard.
Jeannette enjoyed a fulfilling career and retired from her role in security at Weyerhaeuser. Her professional life was characterized by a steadfast work ethic and an unwavering sense of responsibility.
Beyond her professional commitments, Jeannette found great pleasure in quilting, tending to flowers, fishing, and spending valuable time with her family. These activities exemplified her appreciation for craftsmanship, nature, and togetherness.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home, located at 322 N Dooly St, Montezuma, GA 31063. A graveside service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery, 405 Walnut Street, Montezuma, GA 31063.
Prior to the services, the family can be contacted at the home of Lynn Woodard, 431 North Randolph St., Oglethorpe, Georgia 31068.
