Thelma Huckaby Avera

Mrs. Thelma Huckaby Avera, age 77, of Union City, GA, formerly of Montezuma, GA passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 at her residence.

Visitation with the family will be from 9 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, Nov. 28, at the Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, Nov. 28, at Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Montezuma. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born on February 8, 1931 in Dooly County, GA to the late Harvey Lee Huckaby and Fannie Maude Baggett Huckaby. She was a retired nurse and a member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Avera and two sons, Harvey Randall "Randy" Avera and David Eugene "Gene" Avera.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Emma and Milton Peavy of LaGrange, GA; two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Avera of Fayetteville, GA, Charlotte Avera of Houston, TX; 2 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild and 2 step great grandchildren.
