Sam Hicks Queener
August 19, 1927 — July 7, 2019
He was born on August 19, 1927 in Plains, Georgia to the late William Ernest Queener and Cecil Hicks Queener.A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Navy.He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia and later went to work for Warner Robins Air Force Base as a procurement specialist until his retirement. Mr. Sam was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and loved the Georgia Bulldogs.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia. Rev. Jonathan Beckum, Pastor of Montezuma United Methodist Church will be officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his two children, Hicks Queener (Sharon) of Byron, Georgia and Cecile Turpin (Clark) of Perry, Georgia; two grandchildren, Brian Hicks Queener (Hilary) and Michelle Renee' Queener and one great grandchild, Taylor Leigh Queener. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Charlotte Queener.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Montezuma United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 159, Montezuma, Georgia 31063 or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
