Mr. Robert Earl Tyson, age 75, of Andersonville, GA passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence, with his family by his side.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, from 7 to 9 PM at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, at 2 PM at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, GA with Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma.
Mr. Tyson was born on September 6, 1936 in Moultrie, GA to the late Benjamin F. Tyson and Rhoda Elona Thomas Tyson. He was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church and worked as a maintenance supervisor at Southern Frozen Foods, before his retirement. He was an excellent oil painter and loved gardening in his spare time.
Mr. Tyson is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tyson of Andersonville, Georgia; four daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Benny Rowell of Fort Valley, Georgia; Donna and Mike Oliver of Ellaville, Georgia; Terri and Sandy Brand of Butler, Georgia; Misty Tyson of Columbus, Georgia; and one son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Bonnie Tyson of Kathleen, Georgia; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dave Gray of Springdale, Washington.
In addition, Mr. Tyson is survived by eleven grandchildren, Joshua McIlrath, Chad (Kari) McIlrath, Brent Oliver, Tyler Oliver, Macayla Oliver, Spencer Oliver, Kalin Tyson, Kyndal Tyson, Kasey Tyson, Mitchell Harshbarger, and Courtney Bass; and six great-grandchildren, Rylie McIlrath, Cameron McIlrath, Conner McIlrath, Aiden McIlrath, Nathan McIlrath, and Natalie McIlrath.
Memorial donations may be made to Phoebe-Sumter Hospice.
Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma is in charge of funeral arrangements.
