Paul Fredrick Thomas Jr. of Montezuma passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the age of 83 due to complications of colorectal cancer.
Known to most as Fred, he was born to Paul Thomas Sr and Dorothy Thomas on July 21, 1942, in Athens GA. He grew up in East Crisp County, before attending the University of Georgia where he became a lifelong, ardent fan of the UGA Bulldogs.
Fred worked for many years as the General Manager for Cordele Sash Door and Lumber before he retired to his farm in Montezuma, GA.
Fred is also remembered as one of the founders and Master of Ceremonies of Coney Grove, the acclaimed 1970s bluegrass festival and crafts fair in Cordele, Ga.
Fred is survived by his ex-wife, Molly Turner Thomas. Sons, Paul Thomas III and Will Randolph Thomas (Joy). Granddaughter, Frances Rebecca Thomas. Siblings, Rebecca Gibbs, Charles Thomas. David Thomas, and Dan Thomas. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Dorothy.
The family have chosen not to have a service at this time.
