Myrtle Joiner

January 30, 1939 — April 5, 2026

Myrtle Wright Joiner, 87, of Oglethorpe, GA, passed away Sunday, April 5th, 2026 at her residence. Mrs. Joiner was born January 30, 1939 in Crisp County to the late Virgil and Eunice Daniel Wright. Funeral services will be held at graveside on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 2 PM at Oglethorpe Memorial Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1 PM to 2 PM before the funeral.

Myrtle was a stay-at-home mom until the late 1960's when she worked as City Clerk for the city of Andersonville, GA until January of 1970. In March of 1972, Myrtle got a job a secretary with American Cyanamid Company (Cytec). She retired in 1994 from Cytec after 22 years of service as the Administrative Assistant.

Mrs. Joiner was a member of Mt. Zion St. Luke Lutheran church in Oglethorpe, GA where she served on several committees and assisted with the quilting ministry, the Grace Circle Women's group and the Living loving Lutherans.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Joiner, her son, Don Joiner, a grandson, Joshua Joiner, a son-in-law, Charles Cagle and sisters, Virginia Hilton, Myrtice Holloway and Mary Lamberth and a brother, Bobby Wright.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Cagle (Scott Thomas), of Andersonville, GA, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ralph Lamar Joiner (Sharon Bishop), of Andersonville, GA and Paul Joiner (Jennifer) of Americus, GA, two brothers, Eugene Wright of Perry, GA, Virgil Wright of Andersonville, GA and two sisters, Zelma Perry of Americus, GA, Eunice Wisham (Benny) of Ellaville, GA, her eight grandchildren, Carrie Joiner, Alexia Lythos, Jason Cagle, Jeremy Ellenburg, Megan Hall, Laura (Hall) Wise, Amirah Hall, Maggie Joiner, and 3 great grandchildren, Bronze Cagle, Phoebe Cagle and Annabelle Wise.

In her later years, caregivers became a special part of her life and the family extends a special thanks to all the wonderful persons who took such loving care of her, especially - Pat Green, Marsha Norris, Valerie Walters, Carolyn Kleckley. Also, thanks to the special love and support from the Crisp Regional Hospice agency.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Foundation Fund of Mt. Zion St. Luke (MZSL) Lutheran Church, PO Box 187, Oglethorpe, GA 31068 or to your favorite charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia.
