Jeanette Beaver was a gracious and kind person who touched everyone who knew her. She was a devoted daughter, mother, wife, grandmother and mother-in-law. Her love for her grandchildren was immense. She delighted in seeing them become loving and responsible adults. And she never turned away those in need. She sheltered and fed many a hungry mouth. Until the very end of her life, she held a strong, steadfast faith in her lord.

Jeanette was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and love nothing more than singing in church choirs. If there was a high note, she was going to hit it. Singing along side her oldest son , James, in Christmas Cantatas was always a highlight, as was sitting and singing with all her children and friends, as guitars and harmonicas were played.

Since childhood she knew hard work and was never one to be “lazy”. She worked her way through beautician school, while taking care of three children and giving care to her husband who was extremely ill with cancer. She went on to run her own beauty shop “The Community Beauty Shop” to support the family after her husband’s passing. Years later, having retired from being a beautician, she went back to work at REVCO drug store, as well as Research Options, in Macon County.

Jeanette’s faith and love of God were her foundation and she loved being a member of Lee Street Methodist Church in Americus, Ga. Whether it was leading a Sunday school class or helping her son and daughter-in-law prepare Wednesday night suppers for the community, she found great comfort and peace in serving the church.

Jeanette was proceeded in death by her son James Sosby (2018) and her daughter, Wanda

Brown (2025) and by many other family members. She is survived by her sister, Betty Ann Morgan, son Marty Sosby (Karen), her three grand children , Jeremie Radford (Haley), John Robert Radford and Hunter Sosby (Ander),daughter-in-law, Patricia Sosby and son-in-law, Shannon Brown.

Through the hard times, the sparse times and the good times of her life, Jeanette never strayed from her faith and always had a kind and positive word for all she met. Her hugs were sought after and her cooking was sublime and though she is no longer with us, her song and spirit remain.
