MONTEZUMA, GA - Jack Thomas May Sr.,88, of Montezuma, GA, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Montezuma with Rev. Scott Walker officiating. The family will receive friends and hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Felton Cemetery.
Mr. May was born December 12, 1927 in Montezuma, GA to the late Thomas Anderson May and Eula Grace Lewis May. Though he lived 88 years, Jack would have loved 88 more. Jack spent most of his life building a thriving construction company on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As a World War II veteran, one of the highlights of Jack's life was participating in Honor Flight, where war veterans are flown free of charge, to Washington D.C. to be celebrated like the heroes they are. He was a member of the Macon County Kiwanis Club and the Macon County Historical Society.
His wife Mary died in 2009, and his son Tommy, died too young in 1992. Jack's passing will not only be a reunion with his siblings, parents, wife, and son, but also with their infant daughter, Amy, who passed many years ago.
Jack is survived by his youngest son, Tolen May, of Douglasville, GA, and his best friend, Carolyn Jones, of Montezuma, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Honor Flight Network at www.honorflight.org.
