ANDERSONVILLE, GA - Mr. George Fowler, age 65, of Andersonville, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, August 4, 2019 at thePhoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Georgia.
A funeral service will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia withBro. Chris Hall and Bro. Troy Fripp officiating. Burial will follow at Little Bethel Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Ideal, Georgia with military honors.
Mr. Fowler was born on February 16, 1954 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late William Fowler and Thelma Albritton Fowler. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed as an electrical contractor with Macon Power, Inc. of Macon, Georgia and was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia.He was an avid fisherman and gardener, and loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his loving spouse, Sheila Diane Fowler; two step-children: Jody Hudson of Columbus, Georgia and Shelia Bodrey of Andersonville, Georgia and fianc, Greg Murdaugh; five siblings: Gene Fowler (Alberta) of Camilla, Georgia, Tom Fowler (Velma) of Rupert, Georgia, David Fowler (Jean) of Rupert, Georgia, Laverne Bentley (Mack) of Ideal, Georgia; three sisters-in law: Bonnie Simmons (Larry) of Garden Valley, Georgia, Sarah Fowler of Ideal, Georgia, Vera Williamson of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Elaine Ray (Kevin) of Daytona Beach, Florida; a brother-in-law, Roy Yarbrough of Ellaville, Georgia and fianc, Donna Bailey.
Also surviving are six step-grandchildren: Makahla Bodrey, Taylor Dunn, Chad Hudson, Kaleb Dunn, Tabatha Driggers and James Bodrey; six great grandchildren: Carson Bodrey, Ariana Jones, Jesse Bodrey, Ariel Bodrey, Kelsey Driggers and Luke Driggers, along with a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Fowler and Fred Fowler.
