AMERICUS, GA - Mrs. Elizabeth Josephine English, age 93, of Americus, GA (formerly of Andersonville, GA) passed away Friday night, December 13, 2019 in Americus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel in Montezuma, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mark Poole will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion – St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Oglethorpe, GA.
Mrs. English was born February, 5, 1926 in Meriwether County, GA to the late Irvin Guy and Lizzie Maude Woodall Guy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Olin Floyd English; two sons, Davis English, Sr. and Curtis English; a grandson, Alan Arthur and a great grandson, Cullen English.
She was an inspector at Gertrude Davenport in Americus, GA for 40 years, before her retirement. She was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, GA. She loved making blankets and scarves that she crocheted and donating the pieces to nursing homes and retirement homes.
Survivors include her daughter, Billie Jo Arthur and her husband Danny of Americus, GA; six grandchildren, James English and his wife Patricia of Reynolds, GA, Kenneth English of Andersonville, GA, Michael English of Andersonville, GA, Christy Icard and her husband Matt of Ellaville, GA, Davis English Jr. and his wife Ashley of Ellaville, GA, Ronny English, Sr. and his wife Stephanie of Albany, GA; daughter-in-law, Jackie English of Ellaville, GA; seven great grandchildren, Brooke Britt and her husband, Colby, Ashton English, Ronny English Jr., Logan English, Katelyn English, Kaden English, and Waylon English; one great great grandson, Hudson Britt. A host of other family survives.
