Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 23 at the Little Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Sidney Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-9 PM at the Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mr. Layfield was born on May 20, 1935 in Ideal to the late Monroe and Wafe Wisham Layfield, Sr. He was a retired farmer and a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Stoney Layfield and his wife, Hope, of Tifton; brothers, Leonard Layfield and his wife, Blondell of Butler; Eugene Layfield and his wife Lois of Americus; twin sister, Edna Kelley and her husband, Joe of Pine Mountain; grandchildren, Mitchell, Mason, and Matthew Layfield; many nieces and nephews also survive.
