Charlie Milton Edwards, age 91, of Montezuma, GA passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Montezuma Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, Dec. 28, at the First Baptist Church of Montezuma with Dr. Randy Gregg and Rev. Michael Truitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on the day of the service at the church.
Mr. Edwards was born on February 2, 1918 in Dooly County, GA to the late Charles Edwards and Alma Pattishall Edwards. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WWII where he attained the rank of corporal. He was a telephone lineman in the military. After serving his country, he worked at the Montezuma Knitting Mill and retired from Southern Frozen Foods. He was of the Baptist faith. His favorite pass times were squirrel hunting, fishing, reading, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, being with his family and smoking a good cigar.
Survivors include his daughter, Martha Spradley of Montezuma, GA; three sister-in-laws, Carolyn (Buddy) Epps, Mary Eve Watson and Jeanette Beard all Montezuma, GA; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Spradley of Montezuma, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Spradley Edwards.
