Bobby Hobbs

Bobby Cleveland Hobbs, age 87, of Andersonville, Georgia, passed away on July 19, 2025. 

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday July 22, 2025 at 11 AM at Andersonville Methodist Church in Andersonville, Georgia. Burial will follow at Andersonville City Cemetery. Paul Hall will be officiating the service. 

Mr. Hobbs was born on May 31, 1938 to the late Grover Cleveland Hobbs Jr. and Lillian Inez Grant Hobbs. Bobby was always surrounded by the love of his family whether it was sharing stories or simply enjoying each other’s company. Bobby was a constant presence in the lives of those he cherished most. He never passed up the chance to engage in a good chat, whether it was with close friends, family members, or even strangers. Bobby’s grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and many of them lovingly called him “Yay-Yay".

 Survivors include his brother, Larry Hobbs (Ann); sisters, Shirley Jones, Susan Tungate (Jim), Joyce Smith and Cheryl Dorsey (Larry); three children, Greg Hobbs (Kim), Chris Hobbs, and Kim Dozier (Robin); five grandchildren, Shelby Dozier Eubanks (Brad), Ausitn Hobbs, Luke Dozier, Andrew Hobbs and Benjamin Dozier; as well as a great grandchild to be born in September. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gene Simmons; sister-in-law, Tonya Hobbs; his special friend Gwendolyn Bailey; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover Jr. and Lillian Hobbs; wife, Alice Hobbs; sisters, Linda Simmons, Patricia Hortman, and Marjorie English; and brothers, Louie Hobbs, Grover Hobbs and Terry Hobbs.
