ANDERSONVILLE, GA - Ben H. Legg, age 71, of Andersonville, GA passed away, Monday morning, Oct. 3, 2011 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 7 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma with Rev. Cliff Dennis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services and burial will be private.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 913 Old Andersonville Road in Andersonville, GA.
Mr. Legg was born on April 21, 1940 in Americus, GA to the late Benn Legg and Agnes Kitchens Legg. He was a self- employed carpenter, U.S. Navy veteran and member of Oglethorpe Church of Christ. He enjoyed sports and fishing in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Legg; one son, Benny Legg, one brother, John Legg, and one great grandson, Tyler Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Gray Legg of Andersonville, GA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carla and Ricky Giddens of Tifton, GA, Tammy Lyn and Sean King of Warner Robins, GA and Theresa Stokes of Perry, GA; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ben Tracy Legg of Andersonville, GA and Terry Lee and Carolyn Legg of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Morgan Yawn of Rhine, GA and Sara and Chuck Hamilton of Texas; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Robert and Judy Legg of Andersonville, GA, Bobby and Gena Legg of Andersonville, GA, Donnie and Brenda Legg of Atlanta, GA and Michael and Debbie Legg of Andersonville, GA; nine grandchildren,Corey Thompson, Makalie King, Brandy Renfroe, Alex Legg, Wyatt Legg , Elayana Legg, Ginger Lee, Chris Lee and Blake Lee; five great grandchildren, Payton Renfroe, Jay Thompson, Dylan Davis, Christian Davis and Landon Roland and manynieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
