June 4, 1981 - September 8, 2021
Joey Call (Joseph Kayden) passed away September 8, 2021, on a beautiful Georgia day, doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle. He was 40 years old. He had spent three amazing weeks on his family farm. Working and communing with his uncles and cousins, who became our greatest blessing during such a difficult time. He was excited about the life he was going to build in Georgia and looking forward to his kids joining him. He was an intro-extravert. Wanting everybody near, yet couldn’t handle everyone being near him. His June 4th birthday put him in the sign of Gemini and he spent his life battling the two sides. He was the most positive human in spite of his struggles. He married at a young age to Jamie Owen, whom he remained close to, and had a son, Kayden. He graduated from Layton High, and then Barber school. It might have taken him longer, but the point he would want remembered was he never quit working toward his goals. He was an old soul with a young heart. He carried an inner pain from many losses in his young life. Because of this, he never wanted others to feel bad. He was always his family and friends’ greatest counselor, and gave his heart and ear to their concerns, adding the best advice, no matter the situation. Listen close and he may still whisper good advice in your ear. You couldn’t give him a saying without him tattooing it on his body. I once shared the quote from Oscar Wilde. “The only difference between a saint and a sinner is that (every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.)” He wore it proudly. A message that expressed his heart was “I can’t brag about my love for God, because I fail Him daily but, I can brag about His love for me because He never fails me. I bet that embrace was an amazing eternity in a moment. His big smile was like sunshine! His laugh filled the soul. He was talented in singing, designing, an artist. He could make something out of nothing, was a great teacher, and dreamed of traveling. His favorite food was hot sauce. His favorite things were rainstorms, motorcycle rides, music, movies, and shoes. But his heart was held by his son, Kayden, and step-boys, Dalton and Noah and Pitters Harley. They were the greatest pleasures of his life. His greatest aspirations were to be the best father and son he could be. His memories will forever be treasured by his parents: Bruce and Melanie Call of Ideal, Georgia, his ex-wife, Jamie Owen of Layton, Utah, a son, Kayden Call of Layton, Utah; two step-sons, Dalton and Noah, and Pitters Harley; his biological father, Jose Mora of Virginia Beach, Virginia and five siblings: Jami Anderson (Phil) of Orem, Utah, Jennifer Sorensen (Erick) of Layton, Utah, Jillian Criddle (Brian) of Uintah, Utah, Ashley Call Burris (Nicole) of South Ogden, Utah, and Joshua Call (Allison) of West Jordan, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM. Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Layton Park Ward, 789 Wasatch Drive, Layton, Utah 84041.There will be a balloon release ceremony immediately following the service.
